Years & Years' debut single was released in July 2012, with the band performing as a five-piece at the time. Two years later, Olly, Mikey, and Emre Turkmen signed a deal with French label Kitsuné as a three-piece. In March 2021, the band announced on Instagram that they were splitting up, and that Olly would be pursuing a career as a solo artist under the name Years & Years.
