A murder investigation has been launched
An elderly man who was found with stab wounds at his home in Nottingham was identified by his fingerprints, an inquest has heard. Barry Spooner, 74, was found at his flat in Gladstone Street, Forest Fields, after concerns were raised about his welfare on Wednesday, June 7.
since the discovery of Mr Spooner, who died as a result of stab wounds and is believed to have been dead for some time before he was found. Three people have been arrested in connection with his death. An inquest was opened into his death on Monday, July 10, at Nottingham Council House. Reading out the basic details of the case, assistant coroner Laurinda Bower said Mr Spooner had been identified by officers from Derbyshire Police who used finger print technology.She said the inquest would resume after the completion of inquiries by Nottinghamshire Police, adding: "I would like to express my condolences to all those who knew Mr Spooner.
“Barry was a kind and gentle man loved by all in our family," the statement said. "He was a great brother and a dear uncle who was taken away far too early. He will be sadly missed by all." Sarah Hansford, 44, of Brunswick Avenue, Coalville, Leicestershire, has been charged with his murder. She has also been charged with robbery in relation to another incident. Two men, aged 58 and 53, were also arrested in connection with Mr Spooner's death.
