"The City of Nelson, the Mayor and Council, the Nelson Police Department and the Nelson Police Board all wish Mathieu a speedy and healthy recovery,” states a spokesperson.
Nolet, a member of the Nelson Police Department, and colleague Const. Wade Tittemore were caught in an avalanche on Jan. 9 while out backcountry skiing. Tittemore died in the avalanche and Nolet was left in critical condition with internal injuries and broken ribs."We want to thank everyone who has written comments, sent letters and cards, called, sent emails and visited, etc. The outpouring of love from our community has been incredible. Thank you to you all,” said the city in its statement.
A funeral for Tittemore will be held Wednesday. The service is only for invited guests and not open to the public.
