Man Utd have an impressive new football structure in place under Ineos and it is allowing Erik ten Hag to focus on coaching the team.
In their seven months in charge at Manchester United Ineos have shown that the attraction of working at Old Trafford remains as strong as ever, despite the club's on-pitch struggles.
Christopher Vivell was coming in off the back of a short and infilling spell at Chelsea but the German still had a reputation as one of the shrewdest talent-spotters and recruitment experts in the game. On Monday, another former Manchester City employee will walk into the club on the opposite side of town.
This is now a very different club than the one Ten Hag walked into in the summer of 2022 and found to be underpowered. Ralf Rangnick had flagged some of these issues to United and his permanent replacement has spoken of the culture and environment he inherited. Some of that is on the players but when you look at the depth of the structure now at the club, compared to 2022, it's hardly surprising they were falling short. John Murtough had only just appointed Andy O'Boyle as his deputy and they were spreading themselves too thin.
"That basis has been greatly strengthened. A lot has been taken away from me in scouting and recruitment. That is necessary," he told AD.
