Five maids were involved in a brawl that originated from online insults posted on TikTok. One maid, Siti Rukayah Kusni, pleaded guilty to affray and received a S$1,000 fine.

Five domestic workers were involved in a brawl stemming from a dispute fueled by insulting TikTok videos. Siti Rukayah Kusni, a 48-year-old Indonesian, pleaded guilty on Monday (January 27, 2025) to one count of affray for her role in the fight. This incident occurred on May 19, 2024, at Paya Lebar Square. Kusni's case marks the conclusion of legal proceedings against the three women from the second group. Two others, Sulastri and Nita Widia Rahayu, were fined S$1,000 each in October 2024.

Sriani, a member of the first group, was the catalyst for the conflict by posting offensive videos on TikTok targeting Sulastri. This act of online hostility created animosity between the two groups. The fight erupted after Sriani consumed alcohol at a party and fell asleep at Paya Lebar Square around 2 pm. Meanwhile, Siti, Sulastri, Nita, and others from the second group were gathered at Tanjong Katong Complex. Siti suggested confronting Sriani about the TikTok videos, leading them to Paya Lebar Square. The altercation escalated into a physical brawl, captured in screenshots from a video shared on Facebook by user Eunhee Elysium. Kusni's lawyer, representing Nakoorsha Law Corporation, sought a S$1,000 fine for his client, citing parity with the sentences imposed on the other individuals involved. The lawyer argued that Kusni's level of involvement in the fight was comparable to the others, warranting a consistent penalty. Sriani had previously pleaded guilty in August 2024 and received a S$1,000 fine. In September 2024, she lost her work permit as a consequence of her conviction. The court took into account the facts presented and ultimately imposed the S$1,000 fine on Siti Rukayah Kusni. This case highlights the potential consequences of online disputes, emphasizing the importance of responsible online behavior and conflict resolution
