'Indiscriminate' civilian attacks, rape at gunpoint in Sudan's civil war
Statistics show that millions of Sudan ese people have been displaced in the war, and hundreds of thousands of women face rape.
When soldiers from one of the warring factions in Sudan's war realised that 17-year-old Aisha was alone at home, she became a target for sexual abuse. Counts are inaccurate, but the war has seen at least 15 500 deaths and 1 400 violent incidents targeting civilians."One day, two soldiers came to check who was still in the area. They knocked on my door and asked if anyone else was in the house. Terrified, I told them I was alone. They seemed to be searching for fighters and left," Aisha told the United Nations Population Fund ."They came in and pointed a gun at me.
