The Reserve Bank of India on June 6 cut its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage point to 5.75%, as forecast by 44 of 66 economists polled by Reuters. All six members of the Monetary Policy Committee voted to lower the rate, and to change the policy stance to “accommodative” from “neutral”.
