Indiana State Sycamores center Robbie Avila entered the transfer portal after the 2023-24 college basketball season.
Avila is set to enter his junior season in 2024-25 and figures to have two remaining years of NCAA eligibility.
As a sophomore, Avila made the 2023-24 All-MVC Team and was a member of the '24 All-MVC Tournament Team. The goggles-clad sharpshooter rose to national prominence due to his smooth offensive game and his appearance, which earned him the playful moniker"Cream Abdul-Jabbar," among other nicknames. Avila's decision to enter the transfer portal comes on the heels of Sycamores coach Josh Schertz departing for the same role at Saint Louis. The entirety of Indiana State's starting five entered the portal on Tuesday, and reports indicate there's a chance they join their coach on the Billikens.
Across 37 games, the 20-year-old Avila averaged a team-high 17.4 points along with 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He figures to draw plenty of interest in the transfer portal, especially considering he'd likely be more than a one-year rental for his next school, given his two seasons of eligibility. The Auburn Tigers need to watch out for these two Yale stars
