A ceremony was held in Indian Head on Saturday to officially open a park in memory of RCMP Const. Shelby Patton, who died on duty.
Kaela Patton, sister to the officer who died on duty, took to a podium and sang the national anthem, prior to the ceremony to open the park, for which over $225,000 in donations was raised.Pugh spoke about how Patton was dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, which is why outdoor exercise equipment was put in the park. He also loved children, which makes the children’s play structures in the park “very fitting,” the inspector said.Const. Shelby Patton.
Much was said about Patton’s personality, with the words kindness and compassion being used by RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore, “We’d like to thank the town of Indian Head for this lot. I mean, without them donating this, this wouldn’t have been possible. The people of Indian Head and of Saskatchewan who, in a whole, came together to create such a wonderful tribute to Shelby through their hard work, dedication and their generosity.”RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore lays a wreath during the ceremony to open a park in memory of Const.
