Members of Belfast's Indian community gathered together over the weekend for their annual Kannada Rajyothsava festivities.
Kannada Rajyothsava is celebrated on November 1 every year, with this day marking the birth of a state in India called Karnataka. After India’s independence, the newly formed government redefined the borders of each region in India based on the language spoken in the region. People hailing from the Karnataka region celebrate the birth of the state each year with cultural programmes such as dancing, singing, and folklore throughout the month of November.
