India's ruling BJP party aims to streamline elections with a new bill proposing simultaneous state and national polls. While the government claims this will save billions, opposition parties raise constitutional concerns.
India n Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling BJP party has introduced a new Bill, which it hopes will revamp the way elections are held. The ' One Nation , One Election' Bill is calling for state and national polls to be held at the same time — a move that the government says will save billions of dollars. India currently holds multiple elections each year at various levels. But, opposition parties have argued that simultaneous elections go against the spirit of the Constitution .
