The new Cabinet comprises of 76 members, which includes 32 Ministers and 43 Deputy Ministers.
The GNU includes the ANC, IFP, Good Party, Inkatha Freedom Party, Patriotic Alliance, Pan African Congress of Azania, Freedom Front Plus, United Democratic Movement, Al Jama-ah, Rise Mzansi, and United African Transformation, among others.
Ntshavheni says other factors like the demographics of the country, geographic spread, youth and gender representation were also considered.“Given the electoral outcome and the agreement to form a Government of National Unity, it was therefore no longer possible for the President to fulfill the undertaking he had made previously to reduce the number of portfolios in the National Executive. And we say this because there’s been talk of a bloated national executive.
Meanwhile, upon announcing the new Cabinet members, President Cyril Ramaphosa noted that it was not feasible to reduce the number of portfolios in his Cabinet, resulting in some ministries now having two Deputy Ministers.
