Inaugural class from Texas barbecue royalty postponed to July 9
. A memorial service for LeAnn Mueller has been scheduled for the same weekend as the barbecue class.
Killen said that the sold-out class, the first in what is hoped to be a series of intensive instructional team-ups with Mueller, has been moved to July 9.The 100 barbecue fans who signed up for the class have been notified by email of the change . The class featuring two of Texas barbecue’s biggest names filled quickly as soon as it was announced. At the time, Killen stated that more classes would be scheduled. While new dates have not been announced, barbecue fans can email inquiries to [email protected] or seePriced at $500 per person, the daylong class will offer instruction on meat grading, trimming, wood selection, fire maintenance, cooking methods, and smoking equipment. The class will be held at Killen’s Barbecue, 3613 E.

Cooking gas explosion kills 31 people at a barbecue restaurant in northwestern ChinaAuthorities in northwestern China say 31 people have been killed and seven injured in a massive cooking gas explosion at a barbecue restaurant in the city of Yinchuan. The official Xinhua News Agency said the blast tore through the establishment Wednesday evening on a busy street in the capital of the traditionally Muslim Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It happened on the eve of the Dragon Boat Festival, a national holiday devoted to eating rice dumplings and racing boats manned by teams of paddlers. Investigators were sent to determine the cause. Industrial accidents occur regularly in China, usually because of poor oversight, corruption and lax safety practices.
