Scarce bottles. Empty shelves. Hungry babies. The shortage is a formula for disaster. But N.J. moms are joining forces and fighting back.
And scouring every corner of the internet “for even just one can” of formula to feed their babies.
On sites like eBay, you can find packs of four cans, she says, “but they’re grossly marked up.” Shamefully marked up: ARastiello said after making calls to retailers in four states she found two cans of formula in a store in Delaware. Her fiancé Brian, who’s the father of the couple’s three children, didn’t hesitate to drive the 2 1/2 hours there and back to buy them.
Gabrielli’s post, shared just days ago, in which she said she was in “desperate need” of Enfamil’s Neuro Pro Gentlease formula for her 6-month-old twins, preemies who have “horrible reflux,” garnered more than 100 comments from moms all across New Jersey willing to help. “Her specific formula, Similac Neosure, which contains 22 calories per ounce, is key in her development,” she said. “I’ve gone to at least six different stores looking for it ... nothing. I have two cans left that’ll last me maybe two or three more days.”
“It was so amazing because it was mostly moms, sharing tips with each other to try to find formula, saying ‘Hey, try this store at this location’ or ‘I have this kind of formula if anyone here needs it’” she said.
