Northern Ireland was, in the immediate decades following its establishment, a place where the community and/or religion you were born into was supposed to determine your political affiliations. Identities dating back hundreds of years formed the basis of how people saw themselves, each other and the differences between for a good part of the Twentieth Century., many women in Northern Ireland set aside their differences to focus on their commonalities.
They were by-and-large working class, meaning they often shared the same worries about bills and putting food on the table. And they were all mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, aunts and so on who shared the same hopes and fears for their
