New Family Night, a district-community event, is set for Aug. 18 at Piedmont Community Hall.
People affiliated with independent organizations who may not have children enrolled in the district can coordinate with parent groups on functions such as teacher grant programs, fundraising, education forums and more. Among the choices for parents are the Piedmont Asian-America Club, Piedmont Anti-Racism & Diversity Committee, Piedmont Education Foundation’s Parents Club, Piedmont Arts Fund and more.
The department this year offers a wide variety of activities from athletics to the arts for kids, with expanded focus on adaptive programming to meet the needs and interests of neurodiverse school-age children. The movie centers on Mei Lee a confident, 13-year-old Asian-American girl caught between being a dutiful daughter and adolescent chaos and a growing desire for independence. As her body, interests and relationships change, the stress causes her to change into a giant red panda.
