Do we need more cycle lanes in the city?
Brockburn Road is set to undergo improvement works to the lane on the northbound carriageway between March 15 and 20.confirmed an array of work will be carried out on the busy street, including a 1.5metre buffer on the nearside to allow more room for vehicles to manoeuvre and for emergency vehicles to pass, and a review of bollard visibility.
It's thought the location of the bus stop could be altered to create improved access for pedestrians.A letter sent to the community council by Glasgow City Council read:"Cycle lanes in Pollok have been through the required legal process to become permanent, given the long-term active travel and environmental benefits they offer.
"As part of the permanence work, bus stops will soon be upgraded and hatched zones added between the cycle lanes and adjacent carriageway to provide additional passing space for emergency vehicles if required."It added:"By providing safe cycle ways that are segregated from the main carriageway for vehicles, we are aiming to encourage more people in Glasgow to take up cycling as a regular mode of transport.
