The matter was postponed for formal bail application.
The 73-year-old Impala Park man arrested for shooting and killing his neighbour, according to police, after an argument over loud music on August 18 appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on August 21.The court saw Swanson’s injuries, including wounds in the vicinity of his eye and a bruised and swollen hand, which he claims to have been caused by the 37-year-old neighbour who was fatally shot.
According to Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, police were told a fight broke out when Swanson went to his neighbour to ask him to turn the music down. “During the fight, the suspect allegedly went into his house, came out with a firearm and shot and killed his neighbour. The police arrested him on the scene, seized his firearm and booked it in at the police station,” added Mngomezulu.
Swanson will remain in custody until September 4, when the matter resumes for a formal bail application.
