PETALING JAYA: It is nonsensical and illogical that MCA MPs are involved in a plot to unseat Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister, says party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

He denied allegations by news portal The Vibes that he other Barisan Nasional MPs such as Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias and Datuk Seri M Saravanan were involved in the plot."As MCA president, I view this very seriously.

"The media should use verified information. Show proof – how were we involved? We were not even aware of this attempt.Dr Wee also said the report was a"nonsensical, baseless article". "What is the logic for us to support MPs who were elected by the people, and then attempt to force a by-election by resigning?" he asked.

The Ayer Hitam MP said that the priority of elected representatives now was to save the economy and raise issues of public interest."We ensure that there are checks and balances so that the people can benefit," he said. According to the report, some Barisan MPs are currently being wooed by individuals to participate in a"do-or-die" mission to quit their party and sacrifice their seats.Article type: free
