Attempts by a taxi driver to evade vigilant SAPS Napier members, who were busy with crime prevention patrols, was foiled when the members spotted him turning into an isolated street in Napier.
On Thursday, 12 October 2023 at approximately 23:00, visible policing members conducted crime prevention patrols in Main Street when they saw a suspicious taxi, of which the driver, upon noticing police, turned into one of the small streets. The members pulled over the minibus taxi and ensued with a search when they discovered 500 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of about R10 000.00.
