Despite losing the municipality to an ANC-ABC coalition on Wednesday, IFP provincial chairperson Thami Ntuli said the party was not shaken by the coalition.

DURBAN - The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal said losing the uMvoti Local Municipality would not deter it from its goal to govern the province after the 2024 general elections.

On Wednesday, the party lost the municipality to an African National Congress and Abantu Batho Congress coalition. He said either way, his party is what the voters want - referring to the 2021 local polls where the IFP showed significant growth in KwaZulu-Natal . “We know [what happened] is against the will of the people of uMvoti. The people of uMvoti have rejected both the ANC and the ABC.”The party said Wednesday’s council results would not stop it from running the KwaZulu-Natal government as a whole in 2024.'
