GM Nick Caserio said the team was “open to listening” to offers for the second pick....
Kentucky QB Will Levis likely would be a reach for the Texans at No. 2, but picking him after trading down a few spots is a potential option.Nick Caserio didn’t explicitly say the Texans plan to trade the No. 2 pick., that they had received calls from other teams and were “open to listening,” were the clearest sign yet that the Texans are looking to move back in the NFL draft.
Assuming Carolina keeps the pick, the Texans would have to choose between staying at two or trading back. In the latter scenario, the most likely partners are the Colts at No. 4, the Raiders at No. 7 and the Titans at No. 11. Those teams all need of franchise quarterbacks. The further back the Texans trade, the more potential compensation they could get.
“When I dissect myself, I see myself as a very versatile player who can do just about anything,” Anderson said at the NFL scouting combine.Anderson is considered one of the top three prospects in this draft. So even though the Texans would probably rather get him in a trade-back scenario, their safest bet might be drafting him No. 2.
“I can see a situation where they take Will Anderson just because they need that defensive piece,” ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid said. “But it’s just how high do you value these quarterbacks, and how high are they on your draft board?
