If America puts missiles in Japan, Russia and China will join forces, the Kremlin suggests

A picture released by North Korea's Korean Central News Agency via KNS in March 2017 shows the launch of four ballistic missiles by during a military drill at an undisclosed location in North Korea. Such missiles could reach Japan, as missiles stationed in Japan could hit China or Russia as well as North Korea. And a reaction to a new missile threat, for example, would not be political, said the Russian foreign ministry.

The Japan Times reported on 7 September that the United States had expressed an interest in deploying a Typhon mid-range missile system to Japan for joint military exercises. "But if an aggressive policy of attack is being implemented against us from one centre, why don't we combine our potential and give an appropriate rebuff?"

The two countries have not declared a formal military alliance, although Putin last week described them as"allies in every sense of the word".
