Women, Gender Equality, and Youth Minister Marci Ien has found a new director of communications for her office, having recently scooped up Energy and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson’s press secretary, Carolyn Svonkin, to take over the role. Carolyn Svonkin is now communications director to Minister Ien.
Christie had been advising Ien since she first stepped into the women and gender equality portfolio following the 2021 federal election, and previously worked for then-diversity, youth, and inclusion minister Bardish Chagger, starting as a youth policy and Atlantic regional adviser in the fall of 2020. Khan bade farewell to Ien’s team in late April after almost two years on the job. A former regional adviser to then-transport minister Omar Alghabra and former assistant to B.C.
