ICBC has released a new report outlining collision statistics, including the top 10 crash intersections on Vancouver Island.

According to the report, the intersection with the most collisions in 2022 was where Aulds Road and Hammond Bay Road meet the Island Highway in Nanaimo, with 61 crashes. McKenzie Avenue’s on and off ramps to the Pat Bay Highway in Saanich ranked number two on the list with 60 crashes. Courtenay’s Ryan Road also cracked the top three, with 59 collisions where the road meets the Island Highway.
The report indicates there were 10,559 collisions at Island intersections last year, which is above the five-year average of 10,500.The report also provided a snapshot of collisions involving cyclists, motorcycles and pedestrians.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.In 2022, there were 420 incidents involving cyclists across Vancouver Island, down from 426 the year before.
