ICASA has appointed councillor Yolisa Kedama as its acting chairperson. ICASA_org

Telecoms regulator the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa has appointed councillor Yolisa Kedama as its acting chairperson, effective from 4 April to 30 September.

It says the appointment of the acting chairperson is in terms of section 5 of the ICASA Act, which provides that “in the absence of the chairperson, the remaining councillors must, from their number, elect an acting chairperson, who, while he or she acts, may perform all the functions of the chairperson”.

She joined ICASA as a councillor in 2020 and holds a Master of Management degree in the field of ICT policy and regulation, a Bachelor of Science degree and a Certificate in Financial Management.
