Mandie battled an addiction to amphetamines for 23 years, but decided to change her life overnight
A leader of a women's mental health group in Blackburn has opened up about her past addiction and how she's using her story to help others.
"Me and one of the other girls work at a hostel in Blackburn and Shane had come up and we were just chatting," Mandie told LancsLive. "He was saying that we want to set up a woman's hub together. "It was like, I just don't want to do this anymore," Mandie explained. "I got myself a job and went on the straight and narrow.
"My kids were growing up and they started realising things. So I just thought, I can't do this anymore." Passing with flying colours, Mandie says she accepted the job and has since never looked back. Now, Mandie is using her story to inspire others and help them battle their own demons, whether it's addiction or mental health issues.
