When you cover a royal engagement as a reporter, you’re not there for an in-depth chat or to grill them.
It’s not the same as sitting down for a cup of tea and finding out their innermost thoughts and feelings, of course, but being close to William and Harry on various occasions does give you a degree of insight. There was an air of discomfort, occasionally irritation, at having conversations listened to or his every act being watched.
Most people who have seen the princes grow up and observe the decisions they’ve made, the directions they’ve taken their lives and the way they conduct themselves, will see that they’re people in their own right and far from carbon copies of one another.
