As the Glasgow Times reported last month, the council decided to increase parking fees across the city.
Costs in some parts of the city have doubled in the first hour, including in Anderston near the Scottish Event Campus complex, at the Necropolis and in the Kelvingrove area. The new prices came into effect yesterday and drivers have taken to social media to express their displeasure. A Hillhead resident said:"I'm seething. More than £20 to park for 4 hours. They can't even fix the roads and now they are going for extortion."
Another person said:"I think it's disgusting that you have to pay to park where you live, and even the permits cost."Absolutely disgusting, what aA third motorist added:"Same in Dennistoun, Barras and Tradeston - how to kill the small businesses trying to trade and pick up again after a tumultuous time.", expecting a major hike soon. Absolutely shocking prices", parking in Ashton Lane, grabbing lunch with my family and having a wander around the shops.
