Semenya hinted at possible retirement in a tweet, but now says she has no intention of doing so.

Caster Semenya on Friday said she had no intention of retiring after losing her ‘testosterone case’ following the Court of Arbitration ruling this week.

Semenya’s time of 1min 54.89sec was a meeting record and the eighth-fastest women’s 800m time ever run. “I know life could be difficult at times but I’m a believer and I believe there is always a way to resolve issues. One of my firm beliefs is that there is always a way out of everything. This follows speculation that Semenya was considering retirement after she sent out a tweet hinting at this following her losing her case to stop the International Association of Athletics Federations from forcing her and other athletes to lower their testosterone levels through medication.

On Wednesday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that the IAAF, track and field’s governing body, may maintain its restrictions on athletes such as Semenya, who is believed to have an intersex condition that causes her body to naturally produce testosterone at levels much higher than most women.
