The Doctor and Donna are finally back.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Doctor Who 60th Anniversary trailer is proving to be a hit among fans. The show first premiered in 1963 and came to an end in 1989, but it still managed to survive through a feature film in 1996. The 2005 show revival brought life back to the franchise and introduced the series to an international audience.
As excitement builds for the 60th Anniversary specials, the BBC released the trailer on Saturday. Fans quickly took to Twitter to celebrate Donna. After she left the show, Donna could not be allowed to remember the Doctor without risking her own death. Her return is tragic, but it is still leading to massive excitement. Check out the fan posts below:@crowziii just hopes that Donna can survive her destiny.@ThatsOurLewis wants to see Donna get a happy exit to help resolve her tragic ending.
The trailer also offered more insight into Harris' Celestial Toymaker character. The Toymaker is a classic villain with ties back to the First Doctor, and his return is a brilliant way to honor the Doctor's legacy. The trailer seems to indicate that the Toymaker is orchestrating events to drag Donna back into the show. A tired Fourteenth Doctor is left to pick up the pieces, but it could very well lead to Donna's death.
The specials will also be introducing Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor. It will also be bringing in Rose Noble as the Doctor's next companion. In that way, Doctor Who is setting up season 14 and countless seasons beyond it. With the trailer finally available, the fanbase's excitement is growing as the release date for the 60th Anniversary specials approaches.
