Cristian Gamboa never hit the heights under Brendan Rodgers in his first spell at Parkhead but was part of a historic moment.

Brendan Rodgers and his troops had defeated Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Final to complete an unbeaten Treble-winning campaign to earn the tag of Invincibles and with that secure one of the biggest achievements of that crops careers and a place in club folklore.

That's right, Cristian Gamboa. Remember the name? If not, a quick reminder that he arrived at Celtic from West Brom during Rodgers' first stint in charge. However, he never established himself as a key figure. On his arrival he penned a three-year deal but managed just 31 appearances across his spell - but was still part of that Invincible Treble and was on the bench at Hampden for the Scottish Cup final win.

It was a tough season in Germany's top flight for Gamboa and his colleagues that ended with them finishing the campaign in the play-off sports to retain their Bundesliga status. They were paired up against Fortuna Dusseldorf from the second tier with the big prize of top flight football next season. And after a horror 90 minutes in front of their own fans and a 3-0 defeat, Bochum went into the second leg away as real underdogs and looking all but doomed to the drop.

But football throws up those weird and wonderful stories. And just like his Invincibles campaign with Celtic, Gamboa was set to experience another incredible rollercoaster occasion. A Philipp Hofmann double and Kevin Stoger penalty earned a 3-0 away win and with that a 3-3 draw on aggregate. Quite a feat but that was only the beginning of the drama. The contest went to penalties and it was winner takes all from 12-yards.

Just as he was at Hampden for that Cup final seven years ago, Gamboa was an unused substitute in both games but he's always come across as a team player and he showed those emotions in the celebrations as he and his team-mates partied after one of their finest moments in recent times after one of their darkest results in the previous outing. A day to remember for Gamboa and Co and you can bet it is another in his footballing scrapbook.
