Principals across the country are adjusting to new routines, and though each one's experience is different, their stories provide a clearer idea of what everyone faces.

Jon Bremseth passes deserted lockers when he makes his way down the empty blue-and-white halls at Barron Collier High School.

Bremseth planned videoconferences with student leaders to discuss commencement ideas and other ways to honor their class, he said. "I don't think about it too much," Allison said."I just want to make sure my kids and my staff and my families are OK." At Golden Gate Elementary School in Naples, Principal Kelly Bergey starts her day doing virtual walk-throughs of her teachers' classrooms. Then she moves on to check-ins with her leadership team.

"Whether it's texting me, calling me, FaceTiming, email, I'm communicating with [her staff] about every single day," Bergey said.Her school is going through another transition: Golden Gate Elementary is moving toward becoming two schools after a school board vote on a split months before the coronavirus.
