Western University researchers confirmed a tornado touched down Tuesday evening south of London, causing damage to a home and restaurant

A funnel cloud appears in the sky near the Amazon plant in Talbotville, south of London, in the evening on Tuesday June 13, 2023.

Heather Aristone was inside her home with her family when the sunny sky outside changed in an instant. Heather and Jay Aristone stand near a tree on their property on Sunset Drive north of Talbotville that was levelled by a tornado that struck at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The twister also caused damage to London Waffle Company, a restaurant the couple own. Photograph taken on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Aristone said her husband had to go searching for the front sign of the restaurant that was tossed deep into a neighbouring farmer’s field. The family is cleaning up Wednesday and bringing some experts in to ensure there is no hidden structural damage to the building.Members of the Northern Tornadoes Project team are also looking into a potential tornado reported in the Beachville area, near Woodstock, Sills said.
