As the cost of living crisis continues and the pound falls against the dollar, we went for a 'savers' shop at the supermarket
The rain drizzled over the Leeds' Morrisons, cutting across the grey dishevelled sky and lightly rinsing the car park.
As each drop fell on the grainy tarmac and cold car bonnets, it reminded me of how the pound sterling had so rapidly fell to just above the US dollar in recent days. More of us will be favouring the 'bottom shelf' or 'savers' options of grocery products as the crisis continues to save money. Following a series of decisions from UK Government as we battle through the cost of living crisis, at one point the pound dropped to $1.06. So we're likely facing a tough decade where we're all going to have tighten our belt straps.So I visited Morrisons in Wetherby to see how our money faired with a recession looming, and how much money I saved when favouring the cheapest items over what I would usually buy - all from choosing from the bottom shelf.
