Hyndburn council changes waste collection rules across Accrington and surrounding areas
Hyndburn Borough Council will be collecting and disposing of some bulky waste, such as sofas and chairs, separately to other bulky waste, such as mattresses due to a legislation change that came in on Sunday, January 1.
Cllr Steven Smithson, portfolio holder for environment at Hyndburn Borough Council, said: “I am pleased to say that officers at Hyndburn Council have acted quickly after this news of a change in legislation and we will continue to operate our bulky waste collection, which I know is a service residents really value. The change will mean that items containing POP’s will potentially be collected on a different day to other bulky waste items and we anticipate this to be a weekly service.
