'We were able to rent specialized equipment in the area to reach the height of the lines,' said Hydro One spokesperson
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, employees with the Flying J confirmed Hydro One crews had retrieved a bird stuck on some electrical wiring using a crane.
After being trapped for over 15 hours, the bird miraculously survived the long day and was taken for evaluation. Staff at the Flying J have named the bird ‘Little Jay.’ Tiziana Baccega Rosa, senior media relations advisor at Hydro One said the organization is committed to operating the electricity system safely and in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
"Our crews looked at all options to safely rescue the bird from the skywire, a line that runs above our transmission lines to protect the system from lightning strikes," she said in an email. "We were able to rent specialized equipment in the area to reach the height of the lines." View this post on Instagram A post shared by @saultyouththeatre
"However our environmental specialists continue to review our approach to managing risks to wildlife from our infrastructure," she added.
