Politico faced a wave of condemnation after it appeared to suggest that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had never faced a hurricane while in office, despite the fact he did in 2020.

Other Twitter users offered similar theories, slamming Politico as an example of the media rooting against DeSantis and the state of Florida. "Fact Check: FALSE. Conservative commentator Virginia Kruta appeared to suggest that Politico's piece was part of a long trend of Democrats and the media attacking DeSantis for any reason they can."Dems/media attack @GovRonDeSantis on COVID.
