Deputies said beachgoers found human bones buried on the shore of Bear Lake on Thursday, but said no cold cases or unrecovered individuals are linked to the remains at this time.
BEAR LAKE, Idaho — Beachgoers uncovered bones that were later determined to be human on the shore of Bear Lake Thursday morning, according to deputies.
The Bear Lake County Sheriff's Office received a call from the beachgoers around 11:42 a.m., according to a press release. The callers had been digging in the sand when they found the bones. Deputies arrived on scene and determined the bones to be human. Authorities said the county does not have any cold cases or "unrecovered individuals" who may be linked to the remains.
The sheriff's office said it is coordinating with the anthropology department at Idaho State University to examine the site where the bones were found and search for other remains.
