Star Trek: Prodigy executive producer Aaron J. Waltke delivers an exciting status update on the progress of season 2's episodes.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Trek: Prodigy executive producer Aaron J. Waltke shared an exciting status update on season 2's episodes. As an animated series and one of the only Star Trek projects not subject to SAG-AFTRA rules, Star Trek: Prodigy took center stage at STLV: 57-Year Mission and released 4 minutes of footage from season 2's premiere episode.
On Twitter, Aaron J. Waltke clarified the state of Star Trek: Prodigy season 2's 20 episodes, which are still being completed. Despite Prodigy's cancelation by Paramount+ back in June, the beloved Star Trek all-ages animated series is actively being shopped around to find a new streaming service to call home.
Going by Star Trek: Prodigy's season 2 production schedule, the first 10 episodes of season 2 would have been ready to be released on Paramount+ in the fall as per its original plan before they abruptly canceled the series. Depending on when Prodigy secures a new streaming distributor, all 20 episodes of season 2 could even be ready to be released uninterrupted instead of in two 10-episode chunks the way Paramount+ released Star Trek: Prodigy season 1.
Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2 Will Be Even Bigger Than Season 1 The enticing teases dropped by Star Trek: Prodigy's producers, and what was seen in the 4-minute clip released at STLV, indicate that Prodigy season 2's master plan is even more ambitious than season 1.
And that is just a tiny percentage of what Star Trek: Prodigy's producers have hinted is in store for season 2. Aaron J. Waltke has indicated that he sees Prodigy not just as a sequel to Star Trek: Voyager but as a sequel to all of Star Trek. Waltke also teased that the entire franchise of Star Trek will tie into Star Trek: Prodigy season 2.
