BREAKING: The government has confirmed major delays to the HS2 project in order to cut costs.
‘To mitigate further loss of confidence, it is critical that government tackles the inflationary pressures which are biting hard across the infrastructure sector.
‘Having observed HS2’s progress as chief secretary, I have serious doubts as to value for money and cost control.’Earlier today, commenting on reports that construction of HS2 between Birmingham and Crewe will be delayed to save money, Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant asked whether existing construction sites would be abandoned or completed.
‘Simply saying the project is delayed is not good enough. The area has been blighted by whole fields turned into construction sites. Michael Fabricant, MP for Lichfield, has questioned what will happen to construction sites during the delays
