Hoyeon Jung’s MetGala glamour was inspired by oil paintings from the late 1800s
, makeup artist Nina Park, and hairstylist Jenny Cho looked to the paintings of John Singer Sargent and Robert Henri. “We wanted to keep the makeup very sheer with just a hint of color on my cheeks and lips,” says Jung, who stepped out on the red carpet in a Louis Vuitton mini dress and knee-high black boots.
To play off the contemporary ensemble and honor the late-1800s art, Cho created a waist-skimming cascade of waves made clean and modern with a half-up twist. “The Gilded Age was a playful time when women had fun with their hair," says Cho. “They made their own rules and did what made them feel beautiful.” For her part, Park relied on products that provided an artistic feel, focusing on creamy textures and layers of dimension.
