Zizi Kodwa is charged with corruption after allegations his luxurious lifestyle was funded by his co-accused, who is a wealthy businessman.
Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa and his co-accused, businessman Jehan McKay, were arrested on corruption charges amounting to R1.7 million on Wednesday, 5 June.The minister was implicated in the State Capture Commission, chaired by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo. Claims of his alleged corruption stem from his time as the African National Congress spokesperson and member of the national executive committee .
The monies from EOH were reported to have been utilised for a Jeep motor vehicle that Kodwa purchased on 6 June 2015. The commission further revealed that the company paid hundreds of thousands for the former deputy minister in the Presidency’s luxury accommodation. However, when probed, Kodwa said he thought the accommodations were properties that belonged to Mackay.
