Pfaadt doesn’t have impressive numbers but he helped turn this series around last Thursday, blanking the Phillies over 5 2/3 innings and holding them to two hits while striking out nine. Arizona won the game 2-1 after losing the first two in this best-of-seven National League Championship Series, and two of the three since then.
While the Diamondbacks on Monday got back-to-back homers from Tommy Pham and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to back the pitching of starter Merrill Kelly and four relievers, the Phillies got a disappointing outing from Aaron Nola but what hurt them more is the continuation of a stretch of being unable to manufacture runs.
