On June 19, the Big Apple will host Cannabis Wedding Expo, a big happy showcase of wedding favors, culinary experiences, specialty drinks and wedding gowns embellished with that extra plant ingredient which distinguishes the event from the standard expo.
This separate function has not been publicized. “We’re very cautious about how to represent this in New York, being a gray market,” Oliver acknowledged. “So we’ve sent out individual invites to guests who have purchased a ticket, and to exhibitors .”
The point, Oliver insisted, is “experiences” and education, even for the “canna-curious,” even for senior citizens. “We’d love it,” the CEO said. “We definitely create the experiences to be approachable to Grandma and Grandpa. “When you come in, there’s white linens on the table; it’s very elegantly curated,” Oliver said. “It’s a very sexy experience for elders, and you do not have to partake. It’s a matter of making experiences comfortable for them.
Her philosophy is that those new to medical or recreational cannabis should have an objective before indulging – am I consuming CBD for pain and anxiety relief, or THC for recreation? The Expo experience, Oliver said, has to be personalized. “You have to speak fluently to people to make them feel safe,” she said.
