In the tech and entertainment industries, only an average of 17% and 20% of employees and/or contractors are people of color. Uber is striving to change those statics through Creator Week, a free three-day conference designed to empower.

A former music journalist, Robin recognized the issues with exclusivity in the entertainment industry and used her network to create spaces for education, free press, mentorship and employment for creatives like her. When she made the switch to tech four years ago, she found that the same issue existed in the walls of a startup.

"To learn about careers in both industries you either had to know someone already inside and hope for a referral or pay for your dreams. But dreams, shouldn’t cost you everything.

“This conference is for the 9-5ers with a 5-9 that matters to them. I want to make sure your 10,000 hours pays off and all of your preparation leads to opportunity.” –Robin Johnson During June 11 - 13, expertly curated panel discussions and hands-on workshops were centered around three growth pillars: Ideation, Creation, and Execution. Attendees enjoyed dynamic keynotes from Phenomenal Woman's Meena Harris and Blavity Cofounder Jonathan Jackson and additional panelists joined in on the conversation from Google, Twitter, Instagram, Apple, Slack, and various known advertising companies.
