It wasn't the first time this session that politicians discussed border enforcement in the wee hours of the night after crowds of protesters had thinned. An April hearing also lasted until 2am. Advocates decried these late-night votes."At 1:39am, the Texas House voted for HB 7 with the border vigilante provision from HB 20 added on. The chamber was completely empty. People traveled from all over the state, including the Rio Grande Valley, to bear witness to this.
