Thirty-three drivers showed up for NASCAR’s first race in Charlotte, N.C., in 1949 and Sara Christian was one of them.

Decades before the Internet and social media, Sara Christian made her mark in stock car racing, recording accomplishments more than 70 years ago that remain today. Still, Sara’s performance and accomplishments for the era in which she raced were outstanding. Today, her and her husband are the only couple in the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame headquartered in Dawsonville, Ga. She was inducted in 2004 for her driving accomplishments, while he was in the 2013 class for his achievements as a car owner.
A “Powder Puff” Division that Bob Flock created when he opened Atlanta Speedway on the city’s west side in 1948 quickly showcased Sara’s talent.

U.S. Supreme Court rejects Christian preacher's challenge to universityWASHINGTON -The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear a traveling Christian evangelist's free-speech challenge to a University of Alabama requirement that he obtain a permit before handing out religious pamphlets and preaching from a sidewalk adjacent to its campus. The justices turned away an appeal by preacher Rodney Keister of a lower court's ruling rejecting his claim that the university's permit requirement violated free speech rights under the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment. Keister, founder of a Pennsylvania-based group called Evangelism Mission, regularly visits U.S. university campuses in hopes of spreading his Christian message to students, according to court filings.
