In the past two years, the Government has invested £5.7m in an NHS trial of green prescriptions in seven areas in England. “We feel very strongly that the evidence is really clear that if you can take social prescribing to scale then it would be brilliant for people’s health and it would ease some of the pressure on the NHS. We firmly believe these pilots should continue,” Mr Bennett said.
“Launched in October 2020, this initiative has resulted in over 6,000 referrals in our seven test and learn sites, and we are now considering next steps for the programme,” they added.
