EXCLUSIVE: Rob Lee blown away by Joelinton's transformation from Premier League's 'worst' transfer to Newcastle hero NUFC
Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT.com, he said: “Joelinton has been immense. He has gone from being a £40m flop centre-forward to a £60-£70m midfielder.
“I just think he’s found the right position. I don’t know who thought he was a centre-forward – whether it was the club at the time that thought that – it was just a bad decision giving him the number nine shirt.“Everyone thought he was this Alan Shearer goalscoring centre-forward, which he never was.“He’s big. He’s powerful and he’s scored a few goals as well, which is what you want your midfielders to do.
This transition into midfield has been almost seamless and his redemption arc, like Fabian Schar, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock and Miguel Almiron’s, has been incredible.for the birth of his third child at St James’ Park earlier this year; such is his love for the club.In truth, Toon fans won’t care who scores a potential winner against Man United, but if Joelinton were to be the man, it would perfectly round off a remarkable comeback story.
